NO MEETING IN AUGUST

History
The club was formed when a group of young (then) men were bemoaning the fact that they didn't
read enough. They decided to meet monthly and invited friends to join.
Currently there are 12 members and we have maintained that number for over ten
years. Original members included Bill Breetz, Bruce Lutsk, Bill Martin, John Mason,
Steve Schneeberger, and Charlie Stamm.
Each month, one member chooses the book and arrives at the meeting with enough copies for each member. With the growing popularity of electronic books, seven of the 12 members read their books on Kindle as of January 2012 and are responsible for their own downloads. The chooser brings five real books to distribute to the others. Generally, there is little consensus as to whether books are worthwhile or whether they are well written. The group will readily let the chooser know if it was a bad selection.
We meet for breakfast once a month at 7:30 on the second Wednesday of the month. There is a periodic equal assessment of all members to pay for the breakfasts, each member paying a proportionate share whether he attends or not. The meeting lasts until 8:20 or so. Unlike some book clubs, there is no rule that requires that one read the book in order to attend.
